Ty Gwennap is an undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is working towards a double
major in Communications and Journalism. As a student of communication studies, he concentrates on Media Production, and he
has created several short films. As a journalism major, he concentrates in Advertising. Ty was awarded the ITW Foundation
Scholarship and the Wilsonart International Scholarship, and he has made the Dean's List twice. During his tenure at UNC,
he has been involved with Intervarsity, intramural sports, the CPG (Carolina Production Guild), and he participated in Dance
Marathon as a dancer.
Before college, he participated in several sports at the high school level. He was a three year letterman in track, and
a three time letterman in football. His senior year, he was chosen as the captain of the team, and at the end of the season
was awarded the Golden Helmet award. This award is given to the hardest-hitting player.
During his junior year at UNC, through a series of fortunate events, he decided to collaborate with a professor/screenwriter
to write a movie script. The script has come through the first stages of a rough draft and is now being rewritten and edited.
Originally, his professor took the idea out and pitched it to three studios. All of the studios enjoyed the idea, but they
wanted to see a script out of it. After graduation, he hopes to work in the field of advertising, or pursue a screenwriting
profession.
His work field experience includes serving as a caddie at the Cliffs at Walnut Cove Country Club. He also worked at Blue
Ridge Custom Closets, designing and installing premier closet organizational units.
